Movie Make-out

About Movie Make-out

Welcome to Movie Make-out 2.0 — as in version 2.0 of Movie Make-out.

Movie Make-out first appeared as the name of my weekly movie review column for Gapers Block, a kick-ass awesome Chicago-based group blog. When I left GB nearly three years ago to concentrate on comics, Capone from Ain’t It Cool News took over my slot, but the name Movie Make-out came with me, because I knew I’d want to come back to it someday. (The name actually made its second appearance as the Blogger’s website in Multiplex #46 — more of an inside joke with myself and the two or three people who knew I used to write Movie Make-out, so I’m not counting it.)

So now here I am with incarnation number two. Oh, but before we get down and dirty: thanks are due once again to Charlene Epple for giving me the name Movie Make-out.

Okay, so I know what some of you are thinking: why do we need another movie news site? Well… we probably don’t. But Movie Make-out is, I hope, different.

You’re not going to see the latest JPG of a photograph of a magazine featuring a still from the next Indiana Jones movie here, or the latest speculation about who’s directing The Hobbit, and definitely no masturbatory bullshit about imaginary movies that I’d love to see that will never, ever happen: you’re going to get real news.

Where certain other popular news websites I’ll refrain from naming will essentially rephrase a Variety article in order to let their fanboy readership can start bitching away in their comments section, that doesn’t fly here. You can just skim the headlines at Variety yourself, if that’s all you needed to know. If I don’t have anything worth adding to something — even if it’s just a bit of snark — then it’s probably not worth mentioning in the first place. Why is this bit of news interesting? Why should you care? Well, that’s what I’m here to tell you.

Movie Make-out: Because you love movies.
