Trailer Watch: Astro Boy teaser trailer
The upcoming Astro Boy CGI animated movie has a teaser trailer up — almost a year before it’ll hit theaters (on October 23, 2009). There’s not much to go by if you’re not too familiar with the character/manga/comics, but the character designs look faithful enough to what I can recall of Tezuka’s stuff.
Directed by David Bowers for Imagi, the studio that made TMNT a far better film than it had any right in being (whether just because it’s the Turtles or because of the film’s relatively low budget); hopefully that quality will carry through to this project as well.
Imagi is still plugging away at a Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets) adaptation. TMNT director Kevin Munroe has made the leap to live-action with Dead of Night, the Dylan Dog adaptation starring Brandon Routh. He may be lined up for something called War Monkeys, as well, for Dark Horse Indie.

reminds me of “the big guy and rusty”…
You mean, Big Guy and Rusty reminds you of Astro Boy, right? Because Astroboy came first by a few decades. ;)
