Movie Make-out

The Road may be delayed ’til 2009 (updated)

John Hillcoat’s adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s The Road has apparently hit some potholes. Originally slated for a November 14 limited and November 26 wide release, it’s been shifted until December, at the earliest — and it may be moved to 2009.

The Hollywood Reporter says that “those familiar with the project” say the film “is in post and decidedly not done” — not surprising, because there hasn’t even been a trailer released yet, but no less upsetting.

UPDATE (10/18): An update from THR on Friday essentially reiterated the previous article’s information, explaining that “those involved with the film have decided that the movie will benefit from both more post-production time and a less crowded theatrical calendar.”

The current word is that “the movie will probably bow in either February or March.”
