The Tuvans are more closely related to the Turkic peoples of Central Asia, and just happen to have many similar cultural practices to the actual Mongolians of Mongolia, the more direct inheritors of Genghis Khan's legacy. Also, that whole area of Central Asia up through Siberia has close ties to Native Americans, as do the Ainu of Japan. It's also known as Tuvan throat chanting(except I've never heard it like that. It is usually either very low, known as kargyrra, or very high pitch and surreal, known as sygyt). I suppose they chose it because Tuva is sort of what is left of the Mongolians(it is actually a very wierd mix, and they have been sort of cut off from society for a while. So far, DNA evidence shows the Tuvans to be the native american's closest racial relative off of america). Anyway, khoomei is usually much better then just some kind of long burp thing. You could probably find something on Youtube. There is a famous Sygyt singer(that is the really cool surreal kind that sounds like two people) called Kongar-ol Ondar, and another famous American blues singer named Paul Penya, who does the lower Kargyrra very well. There was a documentry made(Ghengis Blues) about them(mainly Paul, because of the amazing circumstances under which he discovered the whole thing, and how he learned it). I will definitely reccomend it, and would like people to atleast check the real kind on youtube, because whatever is on the trailer only resembles it in the crappiest kind of way.
